Madeleine McCann "Hate Campaign"

Madeleine McCann has been missing since 3rd May 2007
As well as having to cope with the pain of having a missing child, her parents, Kate and Gerry have also had to endure what has been described by the British media as a "hate campaign". This "hate campaign" is orchestrated on the internet by a small but very active group of people and has, at times spilled into the "real world" causing fear and alarm to the McCann family. The people involved frequent discussion forums, social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter and also target "reader comment" sections on news websites. Examples of these will be shown.
Most of the anti-McCann comments which have been posted on the internet have been done so anonymously. However, a few people have chosen to go public with their anti-McCann views and activities. These include Tony Bennett (who is currently defending legal proceedings), celebrity biographer David Bret and "criminal profiler" Pat Brown who claims to be suing the McCanns after their objections to an ebook she self-published resulted in its removal from sale from Amazon worldwide..
The purpose of this wiki is to highlight a sample of what the McCanns have contended with on a daily basis for four and a half years.
